Graffitboro Mural Book

Background

For this passion project I documented and captured the awesome street-art found in Greensboro, NC. You wouldn’t be wrong to dismiss this small city in the middle of North Carolina as the premiere spot for street-art but artist all over the world have come to this area to convert the empty building walls into beautiful works of art. Ever since I’ve moved to this area I’ve been awe struck by the creativity of this city and wanted to show why Greensboro is such a unique place and should not be overlooked.

Tools

Canon 6D, Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Blurb: Bookwright

Unique Challenges

It was quite a scavenger-hunt of tracking down all the new murals that have been popping up in the city but I gathered some of the best most awe-inspiring work and put it all together in a book that would fit nicely with any hipster coffee-table decor! I used Blurb Bookwright, a proprietary publishing tool that I had experience with when creating a design book for Youth Digital. There was a bit of a learning curve however with my experience with Adobe Indesign it made it easier to grasp.

Conclusion

I’m quite happy with the final results. I'm planning on releasing a revised version with new street-art in the area along with a new book highlighting the Winston-Salem area.

Peace Corps

Background

I was responsible for designing the promotional materials for an ongoing video series capturing professional development at the Peace Corps. Along with editing a monthly webinar, I designed graphics across our Learning Management System, email marketing, and internal Sharepoint pages.

Tools

Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Shortpoint (Sharepoint plugin)

Unique Challenges

When I came onboard to the Peace Corps I developed a workflow that helped speed up the process for developing new graphics. The graphics had to be design in a way that made it easy to use across a variety of platforms and formats. For example some graphics would remain static while others had to be animated and converted to gifs or be used as motion graphics in a video.

Conclusion

Before my departure with the agency I created a template based system using Canva to help non-creatives on the team continue creating promotional graphics for the series.
